Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)
The Advanced Research Program (ARP)
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved the Program Announcement for the 2009 ARP competition at its quarterly meeting in July. It is available from the www.ARPATP.com web site and from this link: http://www.thecb.state.tx.us/index.cfm?objectid=A9317D20-BB14-E8AE-78541DD340A6CFDA
What you need to do now:
All participating investigators (including co-investigators and collaborating investigators) who have existing accounts with the ARPATP on-line system must log in and update their contact information before 5:00 p.m., September 15, 2009. Your username and password are the same as for the 2007 cycle.
All participating investigators (including co-investigators and collaborating investigators) who have not previously established accounts with the system must register with the ARPATP on-line system before 5:00 p.m., September 15, 2009.
New for 2009:
Pre-Proposals:
Pre-proposals are required for all research areas. They must be completed on-line and submitted electronically via the ARPATP website to the Office of Contracts and Grants. Although the number of pre-proposals that may be submitted by UH is not limited, the number of pre-proposals that may be submitted by each investigator is limited.
An investigator may be named on a maximum of one pre-proposal. Each appearance of an investigator’s name counts toward the maximum whether the person is listed as the principal investigator, co-investigator, or collaborating investigator.
An investigator’s name may appear on one additional bonus pre-proposal if the pre-proposal is a consortium pre-proposal that includes both (1) one or more institutions reporting $35 million or more in total research and development expenditures during FY 2008 and (2) one or more institutions reporting less than $35 million in total research and development expenditures during FY 2008. All eligible “less than $35 million institutions" are identified by asterisks on pages 14 and 15 of the program announcement.
Internal Due Date:
In order to allow for necessary processing time, an internal due date for submission of pre-proposals to OCG has been set for September 1, 2009. Transmittal forms are required.
Please contact your research administrator for any further questions.
